I went grocery shopping Wednesday afternoon after our regularly-scheduled tidy-up haircuts. About half way through my shop, I encountered a mom - pushing a cart with her son in the kiddie seat - looking a bit confused as to where she wanted to go. I stopped to allow her time to decide and when she noticed I’d been waiting on her, she apologized to me.
I replied, "No worries!," to which her 2 1/2 year old son (I'd gathered from his overall size and lack of usual 2 year old "baby chub" that he'd entered the "little man" phase of toddlerhood) piped up with (and I shit you not...)
"Hi, Darlin!"
I smiled widely, waved and gave him a friendly, "Bye!" while waking away, cracking up inside. Little man's got game, I thought. Wonder who he heard that line from...?
I went on to muse, I bet it won't be long until he follows that line up with a hearty, "How YOU doin'?" accompanied by the obligatory upward chin jut… (Insert playful knowing head shake/eye roll emoji that doesn’t, but should, exist.)
I guess I must’ve been really rocking that fresh haircut…
Seriously, though, this is my takeaway... It’s always been the case (acknowledged or not): Babies fucking LOVE me (whether their parents are paying me to care for them or not) and often smile and coo at me in public. Dogs (despite my wariness of them in general) seem to have no problem with me, and I’ve had several encounters that seem to support the theory that I don’t emit negative vibes); and it’s more and more common that random people see me as someone who they can chat with/open up to/trust, regardless of any effort on my part to seek said attention. Guess I’m recently more approachable?
Now that I'm aware of the vibe I give off, I guess I need to accept that these things will happen with understandable - yet still surprising - frequency… I welcome them because it shows me I’m emitting something that attracts that which is pure and trusts me with their energy.
I am open to that which my energy attracts, Little Man.
